Ballroom Dancing

When thinking of Chip and Dale, the first association that comes to mind is probably not that of two children trying to learn how to dance. However, this is what our dance instructor nicknamed by brother and me when we first started ballroom dancing in 2009, since we looked like two squirrels wrestling in a pillow case. Without a doubt, it was challenging to figure out how two separate bodies could gracefully glide across the dance floor as a single unit. Eventually, after many years, I think we got it, because somehow we managed to continue dancing together. The more we trained, the more we loved ballroom dancing and the more we grew as dancers. By employing so many different skills, dancing allowed us to find a unique balance between athleticism and artistry. Dance developed our creativity by letting us express ourselves in so many different and beautiful ways because the interpretation makes dancers unique. What started as a recreational activity has blossomed into a passion which will always be part of my life. Currently, my brother and I are gold level dancers, proficient in American Rhythm (Cha-Cha 2018, Rumba 2019, Rumba 2018, Swing 2019, Swing 2018, Bolero 2019, Bolero 2018, and Mambo) and American Smooth (Waltz 2019, Waltz 2018, Tango 2019, Tango 2018, Foxtrot 2019, Foxtrot 2018, and Viennese Waltz 2018), and compete as an amateur couple. Over the years, we earned several local, regional, national, and international titles, including the 2018 United States National Champions in Amateur Youth American Style and the 2019 US Dance National Champions in American Style Amateur Under 21 Division.
